Jack Quartet

The Jack Quartet has carved a place for itself on the international music scene thanks to its ability to deal with innovative poetic experiences, considerable technical difficulties and unexplored sound worlds. Christopher Otto, Austin Wulliman, John Pickford Richards and Jay Campbell are the "superheroes of the new music world" (Boston Globe). The American ensemble has chosen as models some of the great quartets of the previous generation - especially Kronos and Arditti - and favours contemporary music while seeking the widest variety possible.
Austin Wulliman explains that "our first step is to try to invest ourselves in all aspects of the music, no matter how much is required in terms of style or technique. We want to have an open mind, to be able to transfigure ourselves to be able to serve any composition or interpretation idea. We try to develop strategies, study methods and ways of being that allow us to embody what is required."
