Seong-Jin Cho
Born in Seoul in 1994, Seong-Jin Cho emerged as one of the leading pianists of his generation after winning the Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2015 when he was only twenty-one. With his ability to “inspire tenderness and freedom in the music by giving it a solid and surprising rhythmic profile” (San Francisco Chronicle), he has had no need to participate in further international competitions. Seong-Jin Cho is a much-demanded artist in major concert venues worldwide, from Carnegie Hall to the Wigmore Hall, and performs alongside conductors such as Myung-Whun Chung, Iván Fischer and Sir Antonio Pappano.

In Lugano, Seong-Jin Cho presents a refined programme revolving around his fascination for the Baroque period and its musical geometries. Handel's Keyboard Suite No. 2 and No. 8 serve as a prelude to the Johannes Brahms' monumental Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel. The music of Robert Schumann, one of Seong-Jin Cho's favourite composers, will bring this concert to an end.
