Talking about Beethoven and celebrating his anniversary, but for once playing his music as little music as possible: in this concert, we will listen to the music of the "others". Those who studied with Beethoven, read him or listened to him, and that certainly influenced him - from the "great" Bach to Mozart, from the "young" Bach (Carl Philipp Emanuel) to Haydn. Lesser-known composers as well, such as Pleyel, Mehul, Gossec, whose affinities with Beethoven's style shouldn't be underestimated. And also: the Diabelli Variations, the music of the Revolution, of Germany, of popular culture. In short: a world of sounds in which Beethoven's own expression was formed and defined.
Such a galaxy of works, performed live on the piano in their complete form or as excerpts between short recorded symphonic fragments, will be the focal point of this encounter with Alfonso Alberti. He will make use of both music and words to give us a better understanding of Beethoven's musical world.
